Collaborative Series
Assembling "Echo 3" was particularly interesting, because all but one of the components are drawings that Andree and I created individually (the only collaborative part is in the third row and fifth column). Our contributions are dispersed fairly evenly, with each row and column contains drawings by both of us. We knew that we had kindred aesthetics but were nevertheless surprised to discover such an abundance of connections in this group. We see similar shapes, rhythms, and visual pathways throughout the matrix. The color combinations in many components have a "glowing" quality - this theme directed our selection. The drawings tend to combine contrasting hues (more warm than cool) that alternate between high and low saturations. The overall value contrasts are less stark than they are in "Echo 1" and "Echo 2".
